Description

Mexico City is undoubtedly in need of a new airport. The NAICM is destined to meet air transport demands for years to come. Construction has already begun and there are new tenders on the way but there are many hurdles to overcome before this project can take off in 2020. This unique 4,430ha mega project will require a team effort of both national and international engineering, construction and consulting firms, among others. The project’s deadline and price tag of almost US$9 billion could be drastically augmented. According to the OECD, there are many factors that could slow the execution, such as administrative issues and the capacity of the companies participating.

Companies involved in the construction of Latin America’s largest airport will discuss their lessons learned, expectations, challenges and future plans to ensure the first plane takes off from the NAICM on Oct. 20, 2020.
