Description

Primary causes of death in Mexico have changed over the years. Today, only 12 percent of all fatalities are caused by infectious diseases, while chronic degenerative diseases continue to grow in importance. Mexico is the second-ranked OECD-member country for the highest rate of out-of-pocket expenditure, at 41 percent. As medical technology evolves at all stages of patient care, the medical devices sector is becoming increasingly important. Medical devices are the link between technology, health professionals and Mexico’s social and economic welfare.

This chapter explores the current and upcoming opportunities and challenges that the industry is facing to introduce technology in the health sector and how technology is transforming medical care in Mexico.
